199 Statutory Reports 24 - 109 Financial Statements 110 - 263 Corporate Overview 01 - 23 Notes to the Consolidated Financial Statements Background Atul Ltd (the Company) is a public company limited by shares, incorporated and domiciled in India. Its registered office is located at Atul House, G I Patel Marg, Ahmedabad 380 014, Gujarat, India and the principal places of manufacturing are located at Atul and Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India. The Company and its subsidiary companies are referred to as the Group hereunder. The Group is in the business of Life Science Chemicals and Performance and Other Chemicals and caters to the needs of varied industries such as Adhesives, Agriculture, Animal Feed, Automobile, Composites, Construction, Cosmetic, Defence, Dyestuff, Electrical and Electronics, Flavour, Food, Footwear, Fragrance, Glass, Home Care, Horticulture, Hospitality, Paint and Coatings, Paper, Personal Care, Pharmaceutical, Plastic, Polymer, Rubber, Soap and Detergent, Sport and Leisure, Textile, Tyre and Wind Energy across the world. Note 1 Significant accounting policies This Note provides a list of the significant accounting policies adopted by the Group in preparation of these Consolidated Financial Statements. These policies have been consistently applied to all the years presented unless otherwise stated. The Consolidated Financial Statements are for the Group consisting of the Company and its subsidiary companies. a) Statement of compliance The Consolidated Financial Statements comply in all material respects with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) notified under Section 133 of the Companies Act, 2013 (the Act ) read with Rule 3 of the Companies (Indian Accounting Standards) Rules, 2015 and other relevant provisions of the Act, as amended. b) Basis of preparation i) Historical cost convention: The Consolidated Financial Statements have been prepared on a historical cost basis except for the following: a) Certain financial assets and liabilities (including derivative instruments): measured at fair value b) Defined benefit plans: plan assets measured at fair value c) Biological assets: measured at fair value less cost to sell ii) The Consolidated Financial Statements have been prepared on accrual and going concern basis. iii) Accounting policies are applied consistently to all the periods presented in the Consolidated Financial Statements. All assets and liabilities have been classified as current or non-current as per the normal operating cycle of the Group and other criteria as set out in the Division II of Schedule III to the Companies Act, 2013. Based on the nature of products and the time between acquisition of assets for processing and their realisation in cash and cash equivalents, the Group has ascertained its operating cycle as 12 months for the purpose of current or non-current classification of assets and liabilities. iv) New and amended in the Companies Act, 2013 and the Companies (CSR Policy) Amendment Rules, 2021 adopted by the Group: The Group has applied the following amendments to Schudule III to the Companies Act, 2013 and the Companies (CSR Policy) Amendment Rules, 2021 for its annual reporting period commencing April 01, 2021: a) The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has amended Schedule III of the Companies Act 2013, on March 24, 2021. Schedule III of the Companies Act 2013, provides the format of financial statements of companies complying with Accounting Standards (AS) and Ind AS under its Division I and Division II, respectively. b) The MCA has notified provisions relating to CSR vide the Companies (Amendment ) Act, 2019, Companies (Amendment ) Act, 2020, and the Companies (Corporate Social Responsibility Policy) Amendment Rules, 2021, which is effective from January 22, 2021. v) Recent accounting pronouncements: The MCA notifies new standards or amendment to the existing standards under the Companies (Indian Accounting
