Soybean (Glycine max)
Soybean has become an important oilseed crop with 12 million hectare area under its cultivation in India. The major soybean growing states are Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh. It is mainly grown as a rainfed crop and is highly dependent on rain. The major challenges in soybean are weeds and insect pests.
